Christina Kimerle - Executive Director
Christina joined the FACF team as Executive Director in January 2015. Relocating to the Iowa City area from the East Coast, Christina brings a wealth of animal care and shelter experience to FACF. After graduating from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Animal Sciences, Business Emphasis, Christina began her career working with exotic animals. She has been in the domestic shelter industry since 2008. Christina currently lives in Coralville with her fur-baby Chelsea, a rescue dog from St. Louis, MO. Christina is motivated each day by the animals at the Iowa City Animal Center; she knows that she is part of a team dedicated to enhancing their lives.

Our Board of Directors consists of volunteers from all aspects of the community. We meet the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm. Our meetings are held at the FACF office: 2456 S. Riverside Drive, Iowa City. If you would like to attend a meeting please email our President in advance.

John Schickedanz (President)
John, originally from Fort Madison, Iowa, joined the Board of Directors in 2015. He moved to Iowa City in 2006 as a student of Anthropology. He has a 10 year background in banking. John joined the board to work more closely with the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center. He has always had a love for animals and dreams of a world where no animal should be without a loving family. He currently resides in Iowa City with his rescue dog, Bailey, who was adopted from the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center.
Rebecca Neades (Vice President)
Rebecca Neades, Vice President of Public Policy at the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, has more than a decade of legislative experience in her hometown of Iowa City. She represents the Chamber’s interests with local, state and national elected officials. To expand business connectivity and foster a better business environment, Rebecca helps Chamber members connect with elected officials and each other. She launched the Chamber’s “Buy Local” campaign which has a favorable economic impact in every Johnson County community and was one of a core team tasked with bringing Blue Zones to Iowa City. She will be bringing valuable community connections to FACF. She is an Ambassador Volunteer for the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center, and you may see her around town at community outreach events. Rebecca and her Iowa City Community School District teacher husband, Ed Sheridan, enjoy traveling to hear their favorite bands and exploring regional bike trails. They live on Iowa City’s west side with their spoiled woofer Clyde.
Jen Stull (Treasurer)
Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Jen is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in business, a minor in Spanish, and an entreprenuership management certificate. Jen is a Commercial Lender with US Bank, and has a love for animals and her community. She believes that everyone should experience the unconditional love an animal can bring to a family. Jen and her husband Nick live in Solon with their dog Otis and cat Miles, both rescues.
Lisa Wennlund (Secretary)
An animal lover since she can remember, Lisa Wennlund joined the FACF board to help the Iowa City animal community. She works in Mortgage for the University of Iowa Community Credit Union, and has been in banking for 7 years. Graduating from the University of Iowa after studying Psychology, Business, and Religious Studies, Lisa decided to stay in Iowa City to continue to see the community flourish. Lisa is graciously allowed to share a living space with two cats: Stella and Piper. Stella came to Iowa City in 2013 from a friend’s dairy farm in northeastern Iowa, and Piper was adopted in August, 2015, from the Iowa City Animal Shelter.
Alan Elgar (Director)
Originally from Mt. Pleasant, Alan has lived in Iowa City since 1995 when the pull of Iowa drew him back. He graduated from Drake University and also has an MBA from Northwestern University. Alan is retired from a career in marketing research and system analysis. He previously served as the President of the Board of Directors for Shelter House in Iowa City. Alan and his significant other Gale live with their cat Gracie, adopted from the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center in 2012. Alan wanted to serve on the FACF Board to help others have the same positive experience with the Iowa City Animal Center.
Jeff Dancer (Director)
Jeff is currently a resident of Iowa City. He is President of Dancer Insurance and recently partnered with Transamerica as an Investment Advisor Representative. He is very active in the Iowa City community through his membership at the Iowa City Noon Rotary, Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, 100+ Men Who Care, American Legion, and the CVB. Jeff and his four kids have many different companion animals including a dog, cat, hamster, lizards, birds, fish, & chickens.
Ben Snyder (Director)
Ben, Founder of Copper Black Services, joined the FACF Board of Directors because he has always had a love for animals. His passion for animals to have good health and care drive his desire to support our cause. He has been assisting community organizations and businesses in the areas of strategic planning, coaching, training, board work, and change management through his company. With his experience, Ben hopes to ensure that FACF has a culture to support all of their initiatives. Ben's contributions to the community include work with EPIC - Professional Committee, North Liberty Kiwanis, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Strive for Success. In his downtime Ben enjoys cycling and camping with his wife Cassie. They share their home with two cats, Salty and Nibbler, and Zeus, the always curious Blue Heeler.
Matt Russell (Director)
Originally from Evansdale, Iowa, Matt earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration/HR Management from Kaplan University and his MBA from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. He has been a resident of the Iowa City area since 2006 and has been in the Human Resource field for the last 8 years, most recently serving at the University of Iowa Community Credit Union for the past 6 years. Matt joined the board because he is passionate about the welfare of animals, wants to ensure every animal has a loving home, and enjoys volunteering for all of the fun activities the foundation holds throughout the year. He resides in Coralville with his partner Brandon and three pets – Nagini (Albino Nelson’s Milk Snake), Chloe (Maine Coon cat), and Sammy (Russian Blue cat).
Mike Miller (Director)
Mike joined the FACF Board of Directors because of his passion for animals and animal welfare. His lifelong passion beyond owning his own pets includes educating youth with a variety of animals. His role with Farm Bureau Insurance is currently as an agent, handling the insurance and financial needs of his clients. Mike's contributions to the community include work with the North Liberty Kiwanis and North Liberty Lions. While away from the office, Mike enjoys spending time with his daughter Kennedy as well as supporting local athletics and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Mike's home consists of two pets: Champ, an American bulldog mix and Mia, mix.
